Jae's Four Months Old

Jae is four months old today!
Jae is really interested in the world around her! She stays awake almost all day long, is getting distracted while nursing, and loves to grab things and bring them to her mouth. Jae continues to be a happy baby most of the day, she smiles and giggles very easily. She cat naps through out the day, sometimes taking a longer nap in the afternoon if I swaddle her. Jae is an awesome sleeper at night! Knock on wood but she falls asleep around 9 pm and we are waking her up at 7 am. We even made the leap and moved her into her crib last weekend without any issues.

When Jae is overly tired, she can be a handful in the evening. She turns into a total momma's girl and wants nothing to do with anyone else. We are still giving her a bottle in the evening to practice and many nights she will only take the bottle from me. She is much better when she is rested so we are trying to make sure she sleeps more during the day. She is nursing every 3 hours with some cluster feeding before bedtime. Having her on a more predictable schedule has helped us plan our activities.

Jae seems to do fine when left with others during the day and will take a bottle no problem. This is reassuring since she will be starting daycare next week. I've been nervous about this given her evening performances but am feeling better now. I'm sure our first few weeks back to school will be a challenge since we will all have to wake up earlier.

Jae is not rolling over yet but will reach to the side to get toys. She hates being on her tummy and will either try to get up on her knees or just slam her face into the floor and cry. As Steve has been saying, we are happy with her not being mobile right now.

Kellen is more interested in talking to her, playing with her and helping. He mimics things we say to her and we just have to be careful with how he is trying to help. Shoving a pacifier in her mouth is not really helping.

Our little girl is getting so big! She can wear 6-12 mo things now but can still be stuffed into 3-6 mo. I am holding off on getting any fall/winter clothes because I have no idea what size she will need. She has lost some of her hair so it looks like she has a mohawk. I am so curious to see what happens to her hair and what color it is going to end up. It definitely has some red tint to it and seems darker than Kellen's ever was.

Jae is such a sweetie and we are really enjoying her smiles and giggles!

We had Jae's 4 month check up this morning. Everything is looking great. I was planning on waiting until 6 mo to start solids but there is new allergy info out suggesting starting solids closer to 4 months is better and our doctor suggested giving her peanut butter before 6 mo! Something to think about but with all the changes coming up, it definitely won't be this month.
