Our baby girl is two years old today!
Jae is such a happy girl, she is always smiling and in a good mood. She is also outgoing, opinionated and a little bit of a drama queen. She is a tough cookie as long as its on her terms but mess with her when she's not in the mood and the tears will start flowing. She is so much more sensitive than Kellen, if we are firm with her, the lower lip will quiver and she will start crying. Luckily, she usually is on her best behavior!
Jae is all about playing with age inappropriate toys. She does like her doll house from Santa and has started some imaginative play with the mommy, daddy, baby, and kona. She also likes to undress her Baby doll, give her a bottle, and change her poopy diaper. Other than that, she likes anything Kellen is playing with including games. She loves games and does a good job following our lead. Jae is obsessed with her stuffed animals. She sleeps with her "raffe" and moose but also loves her turtle and puppy. Jae LOVES books and reading. She is over the demanding, read every book all time phase but still asks us to read with her when we're watching TV and of course, at night before bedtime. She has very little interest in cartoons or the ipad at this point. She does request "Bus" (Magic School Bus) and "Miska Mouska" (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) but they only keep her attention for a few minutes.
Jae is a great talker and is starting to form sentences. Last week I heard her say, "I shake. I make bubbles." as she was shaking her sippy cup filled with milk. She can also be sassy and push us away saying "leave me alone" or "no mommy." Jae loves singing. A lot of times, she'll sing in the car and I have no idea what she's singing but it is clearly something from school because it will have hand motions. If we are listening to kids music at home, she knows all the songs and hand motions that go with them. She is great with identifying animals and their noises but refers to all dogs as "kona." She knows Trinity and Kona in our house but all other dogs are 'konas."
It is soooooo nice having a good eater this time around! Jae will eat everything and will usually exclaim "Yummy" when eating dinner. I can't even tell you what her favorite foods are because she literally eats anything. She drinks milk at all her meals and likes a sippy full of milk after I pick her up from school every day.
Jae loves Kellen. I love it most when Kellen sits down with her and will play with her doll house or magnatiles. They love to chase each other around the house and wrestle the most. They can often be found reading books together, it is so sweet to hear Kellen reading her the books he has memorized. Jae is hilarious when she tackles Kellen or beats up on him and she loves it when he does the same to her.
Our girl is huge! I'm curious to see how big she has gotten at her appointment on Tuesday but here is what I know...She still has a belly and some serious rolls on her legs. Her 2T clothes do not even come close to fitting her anymore. She is wearing 2-3 in Boden, 90 in Hanna Andersson and 3T is most everything else. I have sized her up to 100 in Hanna Andersson for the summer since her shirts are a little tight. This means, she is wearing a size bigger this summer than Kellen was at the same age (eeek!!). She will also be a size larger in shoes this summer than Kellen was at the same age.
Since Jae is all about acting older than she is and mimicking things we do, she is very interested in sitting on the potty. She has successfully used the toilet a few times but mostly because I was paying attention. She likes to sit on it at night before going to bed and some nights diapers really bother her so she'll go naked and practice sitting on the potty. At this rate, I'm pretty sure she'll be potty trained before Kellen stops having accidents.
We are looking forward to celebrating with family today and will have a joint birthday party in May.
Happy happy birthday to Jae, we so enjoy watching her toddler personality come out and look forward to the year ahead!
