Summer is Flying By!

Our summer is flying by and we've been staying super busy. Kellen finished his camp at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. He learned a lot from his space themed camp while Jae and I tried to stay busy around downtown.

Alison came into town with Deaglan and Adalynn so we've spent some time hanging out with them at dinner, Peter Pan Park, the Zoo and Kellen and Jae even got to go to Lakeside with them.

We celebrated Kai's 4th birthday with cupcakes and a water balloon fight.

Kellen is taking his 2nd session of swim lessons. He will be taking a total of 6 weeks. He started in a Level 1 class and moved up to Level 2. He is very capable of moving through the water on his own without touching and loves to retrieve objects off the bottom of the pool. He is the kid swimming around the pool getting yelled at for not keeping a hand on the wall...what are you going to do?

We very rarely spend a day at home in the summer, Kellen is much better behaved when we get out of the house. I've decided Fridays are a good day to spend at home getting chores done but other than that we can be found around town. Our latest adventure was the Children's Museum.

Both Kellen and Jae made a trip to Dr. Tim to get their teeth checked. Kellen's teeth looked great and Jae did well for her first exam.

A group of friends from work have been meeting up at breweries on Thursday afternoons. I'm not a huge beer drinker and always have my kids in tow so had been avoiding them. I was finally convinced to tag along and have been having fun checking out these trendy spots complete with food trucks. The kids have been well behaved too!

Kellen has been super excited to see Planes 2: Fire and Rescue. I've been trying to figure out how to make that happen logistically and when I ended up by myself with the kids on a Saturday, I sucked it up and took both of them to the 9:30 am showing. Jae was squirmy and talkative and could have cared less about the movie. Kellen was very into the movie but it was a little suspenseful for him and he kept yelling, "I don't like this movie!" I think he did, he just doesn't understand what he was feeling.

In other news, after much deliberation we decided to start Kellen in Speech Therapy. He goes once a week for 30 minutes and is working on his "s," "f," and "g" sounds. He is being pretty cooperative and his therapist thinks he'll improve quickly. After watching a couple of sessions, I'm pretty happy with our decision. There's no way Steve and I could have corrected him alone.

Jae is quickly turning into a toddler running all over the place and being super independent. She is making sound effects and saying more words. I am always amazed at what she can understand us saying and does a good job following our commands. She squeals with delight when we go to the pool or park, she definitely knows how to have fun. She is the queen of mimicry. She watches every move we all make (including the dogs) and then tries it herself.

I just got my back to school letter in the mail and quickly stuck it on the fridge out of mind. We have 3 more weeks and will plan on making the most of them!
