Jae's Eight Months Old!

Jae is 8 Months Old Today!

Wow, this month has gone by fast! The biggest change with Jae is that she can move! She has started rolling around to get where she needs to go and can do so quickly. She is also starting to pull her self up and sit up. She can get up on her hands and knees and even do a little army crawling but overall, rolling is her method of choice for getting where she needs to go. Jae is also able to stand supported on something for a small amount of time.

We keep finding new toys for her to play with. She likes pushing buttons, batting at things, and sticking toys in her mouth. She also likes listening to books (and eating them). I think Sydney might be her favorite thing, she watches her walk around the room cooing and laughing. 

Jae has started enjoying eating solids and can feed herself puffs and banana. She has now tried plain yogurt, tofu, peas, green beans, carrots, peaches, and prunes. She eats 3 "meals" a day. Some rice cereal and an ounce of fruit for breakfast, two ounces of protein/fruit/veggie for lunch and two ounces of protein/fruit/veggie for dinner. She also continues to nurse/take a bottle 6 times a day. I have never really made a big deal about her spitting up all the time. It doesn't seem to bother her and since weight is not an issue, there wasn't anything to worry about. Now that she is eating brightly colored foods and rolling around though, her spitting up has become quiet a nuisance. I think we're probably stuck with this until she gets older but it is something we will bring up at her 9 mo appointment next month.

Our little girl does not like to nap but is an awesome sleeper at night. I've been feeding her around 7:30 and she is in bed by 8:00 and sleeps until around 6:00 the next morning. The only issue we have had with sleeping is when she has gotten new teeth. This past week, she cut both her top front teeth. She was very dramatic and cried a lot without being able to be soothed. We tried ibuprofen, orajel, teethers, nursing and an amber necklace but nothing helped. She cried herself to sleep numerous nights, poor thing. Hopefully that is behind us for awhile now. 

Jae is getting lots of new hair and is getting bigger and bigger. She is going to be wearing 18-24 mo clothes before we know it.  She is definitely a talker and is always babbling away. We get lots of big smiles from Jae, she is still a very happy baby.

Kellen is doing so good with Jae. I love hearing him want to play with her and hearing her giggle at him. We are not looking forward to trying to keep Jae out of his small toys, as far as we're concerned, there is no rush for Jae to crawl.

We are excited to spend our first Christmas as a family of four.
