Rain

The rain started on Tuesday and it is still raining as I type. We are lucky on our end of town and while we have seen constant rain, there has not been any flooding. The foothills and north end of town have seen terrible damage. The rain cancelled all of our weekend plans so we have been hanging around the house organizing, cleaning, playing, cooking and resting 

 Monday night we noticed Jae had a seal like cough and some strider. Since we ended up in the ER when Kellen had croup, we watched Jae like a hawk Monday night and took her to the doctor first thing Tuesday. We caught it early and with some oral steroids, she improved quickly. Jae also cut a tooth this week which caused terrible diaper rash. She was in really bad shape Tuesday but I stayed home and cuddled with her all day. And of course, she still had a smile on her face!

 While I was at the doctor with Jae, he brought up the new food allergy research at National Jewish again with me and encouraged me to start Jae on solids. Since we wound up with some free time this weekend we mashed up some avocado Friday night and Jae enjoyed her first bites of food. She is sitting up well and kept bringing her mouth to the spoon. She may have even swallowed some of it! All in all, it was successful and we'll continue to introduce a new food every week. I made some sweet potato and pear purees to stick in the freezer today.
