Kellen is three years old today!
It is so crazy how much Kellen has changed the past year. Looking back at his two year pictures, there is still so much baby present but now he is well on his way to a little boy. We've had lots of change happening so our schedules are a little weird and we haven't quiet got into a routine yet. I'm hoping that once its officially summer, that will change a little.
Kellen's favorite things are train, pirate, truck/construction, or dinosaur related. He loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Chuggington, Octonauts, and Dinosaur Train. He would watch cartoons all day long if I let him so we try to have a few times during the day where he can watch them. He likes playing with puzzles, legos, cars, trains, and anything outside. He is just starting to learn how to pedal his tricycle so hopefully he will be able to ride that on his own soon. Kellen likes kicking and throwing balls but hasn't mastered catching yet. He has never been into coloring or painting but has a new found love for cutting with scissors and of course, loves stickers. We are excited for him to start swim lessons soon and we will not continue with gymnastics (since his favorite part is playing basketball).
Kellen reads with daddy every night before bed. He has recently been interested in his board books again so Steve makes Kellen read them to him which is beyond cute. Kellen's favorite books are Dr. Seuss, my "Parents" books from when I was little, and the Llama Llama books.

Kellen is a good sleeper, once he's down. He wakes up around 7:00 when I'm not working. He still takes a 2 hour nap most days and we start our bedtime routine at 7:15. He gets a long bath, three books and then has to sleep. We have been battling with him to fall asleep recently but I think it has to do with Jae and not having a set daily schedule.
Unfortunately, Kellen is a picky eater. He has a great appetite but is not very adventuresome. He loves anything with cheese and/or beans in it. He will eat chicken nuggets if they are the frozen, dinosaur type. Sometimes he'll eat ground beef. If it is a fresh fruit or vegetable, he will not even look at it. We give him lots of pureed foods and freeze dried fruits to supplement. I'm thinking its a texture thing and he'll grow out of it (fingers crossed). Kellen loves watching cooking shows and is very curious about what I cook or what we are eating. He also likes to cook us dinner with his play kitchen so the interest in food is there. Kellen knows restaurants usually mean a good meal so he is great in restaurants and we don't think twice about going out.
We are enjoying Kellen's current vocabulary. While we have to translate for others, we completely understand what Kellen is saying. His favorite phrases are
"Maybe tomorrow I try/do that"
"I'm not tired"
"That's yous?"
"What you having?"
"Don't worry Jae, we almost there"
"I'm mad!"
"Mommy, you mad?"
"I need some of that!"
Kellen loves to sing. I love that he is learning so many songs at school and have been feeling guilty that he's not getting it at home now. I found a super cute music class called Altitunes to take him to this summer and he really enjoyed the first class we went to.

Kellen is stubborn!! There is no waiting it out with him, if he doesn't want to do something he will not do it without a fit. I'm glad he does have such a laid back personality because if that wasn't the case, I would be terrified.
Kellen was doing well potty training at day care before we had Jae and then he pretty much stopped. Just this past week, we've really been pushing it and he's doing well. I bought him some cloth "pull ups" that are easy to change if he has an accident but that he can pull up and down on his own. He will not initiate going but if I remind him and offer him a reward, he'll go on whatever toilet is around. We've been going to Yogurtland for pooping which isn't really working but is a fun way to celebrate when it happens. He gets chocolate and pink yogurt with M&Ms and gummy bears on top.

Kellen is still a big boy, he towers over others his age. I'm waiting for someone to question me on his age at classes, the zoo, etc. We will go to the doctor for his 3 year well visit at the beginning of June and we'll see how big he is. He is wearing 4T clothes and size 9 shoes for the summer with room to grow. Kellen's blond curls have disappeared this year but he has a very thick head of wavy, sandy blond hair that needs to be cut every 5-6 weeks!
