We returned home from Hawaii Monday night after a very long trip home. It sucks to have such a crummy experience traveling home after such a great week. I do have to say that Kellen was great to travel with even with all of the hang ups. Not sure what everyone around us on the plane would say but we thought he did ok. Here are some pictures from the second half of our trip.
We ended up finding a park in Princeville for Kellen to play at when we weren't at the pool or beach. Our sweaty kid, Kellen's hair was always wet. I don't think he is cut out to live in the humidity.
Kellen was lucky to have Grandma T. on vacation with us to help entertain him.
At Anini Beach.
Kellen was unsure of the sand at first but did end up liking it. He would dig in it with his shovel, play with his truck, and started walking on it a little. He liked sitting in the shallow water splashing and watching the water come in.
The sunglasses are cute and were a necessity that morning since we were at the beach so early in the morning and the sun was still low but he would only keep them on for a few seconds while we got some pictures.
The resort has a great pool so we spent lots of time there. Personally, I prefer the pool over the beach...I'm not all that into sand. Kellen had tons of fun blowing bubbles, kicking, getting thrown in the air, and going under water.
This is the closest we got to fireworks this year. On our way to dinner at the St. Regis on Friday night, we noticed some smoke coming out of the restaurant at our resort that was being renovated. Next thing we know, we are getting yelled at to evacuate to the parking lot! My first instinct was to go back and get Kellen so we ran back to our condo to let Steve's parents know and to grab Kellen. We reconvened in the parking lot, where Kellen hung out in the car with Joe and Connie while Steve and I walked to dinner. Everyone was evacuated for about an hour. Nothing was damaged besides the restaurant so everything turned out ok and we were still able to enjoy dinner.
Steve and I celebrated our 7th anniversary at Kauai Grill in the St. Regis hotel. It was a great dinner with just the two of us. We had a great table with an amazing view of Hanalei Bay and the sunset. We smelled a bit like campfire from our walk in the smoke to get to dinner but oh well, we still made it.
We walked to the nearby beach Saturday afternoon and by the time we got there, Kellen was asleep so we got to enjoy a little nap on the beach.
Testing out the water.
Heading to dinner our last night in Kauai.
We explored the south side of the island Sunday before our flight. Here we are at Spouting Horn Park. More shaved ice please. It was so nice to get home last night and sleep in our own beds with all the critters. We are so lucky to have friends and family help take care of everything while we were gone. This trip was complicated to coordinate but my Grandma stayed at our house, we had a petsitter for a few days, my mom watched the dogs a few days, and our friends Jess and Brian watched the dogs the rest of the time. There is no way we could enjoy ourselves if we didn't know everyone was in good hands so thank you!

Ugh, the formatting of this post sucks but Kellen is awake now so no time to fix it now...
What a wonderful trip, Kellen is a lucky kiddo!
That's a nice summery of the vacation. Great pictures!
