Eight Months!

January 25, 2011 Kellen is 8 months old today!
Seriously, Kellen is eight months old??!!
It is so much fun watching him grow and develop new skills. This month he is still not crawling forward but has mastered crawling backwards and rolling all over. He has become much stronger at standing while supporting himself and has learned how to bounce. He can also sit up after I feed him in my lap and can almost push himself back into a sitting position from laying on the floor. When he is sitting, he can gracefully roll to his side and onto the floor instead of flinging himself backwards. I have seen him pull himself up onto his knees from a sitting postition. He is still growing but I don't think as quickly as he was before. If I had to guess, I would think he's 22 lbs. He really doesn't fit into 6-12 mo clothes anymore but I like to squeeze him into some of my favorite outfits still. He comfortably wears 12-18 months but we have purchased some 18-24 mo pants that fit. His feet have gotten much bigger the past month, he now wears size 3 or 6-12 mo shoes. His hair has also gotten much longer the past few weeks.

Kellen has a total of 6 teeth now. We are enjoying the time inbetween teeth because we are getting lots of sleep. Kellen hasn't woken up at all during the night for a few weeks now. He goes to sleep between 7:00-9:00 pm but we put him to bed most nights between 9:30-10:00 after his last feeding. On work days we wake him up around 6:00 am but on the weekends he likes to sleep in until 8:00. He still doesn't take more than two 30 min naps at daycare but we can get him to take two 60-90 min naps on the weekends.

Kellen is still nursing or getting a bottle of breastmilk every three hours with the exception of over night. We offer him solids twice a day. He does pretty well eating some cereal and 2 oz of fruit in the mornings and usually will eat a few ounces of turkey or chicken, fruit, and a veggie around dinner time. His dinner routine is harder because he is usually so tired by then and doesn't want anything to do with his high chair or the food. We're figuring it out though and bottom line, he doesn't really need it yet. Since the last food update, Kellen has tried avocados and seems to enjoy them.

Kellen is still a mellow, happy boy who loves to smile for the camera. He gets crabby when he's hungry or tired (or when you take a toy away from him) and that's about it. We can still take him anywhere but are finding it more and more difficult to entertain him. He loves all of the toys that he can hit and make noise with. He also likes things he can pick up and wave around. I think his favorite things are the things he isn't supposed to have like the dog food bowl, the dog toys, cords, remotes, phones, and computers. My favorite new game is he can play peek a boo with us and will cover up his face with a blanket and take it off really quick...so cute.
