Seven Months!

December 25, 2010

Kellen is 7 months old today!

Kellen is still on the move and is so close to crawling but hasn't put it all together yet. He is fast though and can grab something off a plate in no time or can roll across the room after something before we even realize it. He loves Sydney and will do everything he can to get to her. She lets him pull her hair and loves the attention. Trinity on the other hand is freaked out by Kellen. I think his unpredictable movement bugs her. We are trying to teach her to move when he comes at her and she's figuring it out. We'll have to be careful with her until Kellen is more predictable and can actually play with her. Kona and Higgins keep their distance and pretend he doesn't exist.

Kellen now has 5 teeth, his bottom two front teeth, one upper front tooth and the two to the side. Teething brings long nights. He will usually wake up around 3 am and whines the rest of the night. We've spent a lot of time sleeping with him on the recliner in his room. I am anxious to try an amber teething necklace to see if that will help relieve some of his discomfort.

Kellen has tried sweet potatoes, butternut squash, bananas, pears, and rice cereal. For the past month, he has been eating cereal every morning and we try to give him some purees around dinner time. He is not consistently eating solids and has pretty much stopped eating them all together since he's been getting his 3 new teeth. I wouldn't say he dislikes anything we've given him, he is just not interested. He did get to play with some banana puffs this week and really enjoyed trying to pick them up and get them in his mouth. They have provided some entertainment this week for all of us.

Kellen is getting more interactive and more purposeful everyday. He likes to be on the floor moving around and playing. He will see something he wants, and will go after it. Something new this week, if I take something away from him, he'll whine and cry. He especially gets mad when he can't pound on my computer or try to eat the cord. Kellen still likes going new places and meeting new people so we enjoy taking him everywhere with us.

We are excited for today and to see what Kellen thinks for Christmas.

Merry Christmas!
